My new bike

Look what I found when I arrived home from work yesterday!!
My husband and I pass a cycle shop on our walks.  At Christmas time a bike like this was in the window with sold sticker attached.  I used to stop and fantasize about cycling at Low head(as it's very flat and a safe cycle path all the way to George Town along the rivers edge).
My dear husband must have ordered this or spotted another.
I shrieked with delight when I saw it and can honestly say it was the happiest moment in a very long time.  I think as wives and mothers we spent huge amounts of energy making other people happy and to be on the receiving end of such a gift is something I will always remember and appreciate. I couldn't believe it.
I loved cycling as a girl and had a bike when we were first married. It was replaced by a pram!!
I will find a basket for the front, pack our thermos and cycle along the river as often as I can.  (my husband has a nice bike)
This cycle is called an Amsterdam by Electra.  Not sure of a name for her.
Any suggestions?

  1. Oh my goodness Chris!! Lucky you! Well deserved though :)
Ps i'd just be calling her "gorgeous" haha :)

  2. Love the bike, she is beautiful!! and you are very deserving of her indeed!!
The basket will complete her, I loved the line that you had one when first married and it was replaced with a pram!!
Enjoy on your many rides with Uncle Chris, was a very nice thing of him to do for you :)xx

  3. What a beauty it is! I look forward to reading about all your adventures with it :-)

  4. What a beautiful way to enjoy the scenery around Low Head Chris, she a real classy bike. Can't think of a name though. Keep us posted if you think of one. xx Happy biking

  5. Maybe Bianca Bike?!! sounds like bicycle to me so maybe it would suit!

  6. What a cahrming bike - love it, Chris. Hope you have a terrific Mother's Day and thanks for stopping by my blog!

  7. How wonderfully thoughtful. The thought alone is shriek-worthy! I think she looks like "Nancy"

  8. Well, obviously, Electra!!!! Fancy, having a bike which comes with her own emotional baggage!
Sorry, this is an old post which I just couldn't help commenting on; I just found your blog. Love your header photo.

I'm retired from paediatric nursing, I quilt, and play folk music on my fiddle and DG melodeon. Your blog ticks a lot of boxes for me!!!
