Dear Margaret Olley passed away aged 88 this week. An amazing Australian artist. Last year my husband and I flew to Sydney to an exhibition of her early works which depict her travels to Europe. It was wonderful and I have the coffee table book to enjoy. I love Margarets still life paintings and rather hope I end my days painting away at home like her.

What a beautiful painting chris, I remember seeing it at the time and thinking how he really captured Margaret, she will be remembered for many years to come. x
ReplyDeleteA couple of years ago my husband gave me Margarets Autobiography.
ReplyDeleteIt's quite a big read but really fascinating as she hung out with our really famous artists in the 30s and40s.
I will buy a poster of one of her lovely still life paintings.
